Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004) introduced a new type of bug: the (mind) Control Bug. These bugs represent a distinct species within the Arachnid genus, known for their ability to subjugate human hosts. Upon infestation, they systematically terminate their hosts and commandeer their bodies, effectively manipulating them as puppets to further the agenda of the Arachnids. Here is my suggestion:
Arrowhead could create an update where they would introduce a swarm of mind "control bugs" that would take over a player instead of killing them. Once the swarm had taken over the player, they would turn against the team. Most players are team players, so Arrowhead would need to incentivize the infected player with a substantial amount of XP or something similar, so they feel comfortable betraying the team.
To prevent people from getting tired of being betrayed by an infected comrade, the developers should make the brain "control bug swarm" a rare occurrence. For example, if a player is away from the team, they would have a higher chance of getting infected. Once infected, Arrowhead should turn off the mic and chat function for that particular player. That way, they can't communicate through in-game means. The infected Helldiver would be able to use weapons and stratagems the same way an uninfected Helldiver can.
What do you think about my suggestion? Do you have something to add to it? Let me know!
